Sandbag Walking Lunge

The Walking Lunge is a good exercise for building strength in the lower body. By adding a sandbag to it we can use positioning to create more functional strength and conditioning.

 

Training Technique

  • Hold your sandbag at chest height, overhead, in a bear hug or any other variation
  • Step forward on one leg
  • Bend both knees and drop your bodyweight downwards until both knees are at 90°
  • Keep the head and chest high throughout
  • Bring your rear leg forwards and step through into another lunge
  • Try to avoid resting between lunges - keep the movement smooth and continuous 
  • Don’t allow your body to lean forward excessively
